God is Good

I just attended the Mercy Me and Jeremy Camp concert in Springfield. I have to tell you, I am deeply moved by the experience. The music was amazing and so were the messages. If you didn't get to go, you missed out MAJORLY!!!

Today, I have been looking at two scriptures specifically:

Psalm 27:13 "I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living."

Psalm 34:8 "Taste and see that the Lord is good."

Eventually, we will come to say that everything is good because the Lord has "allowed" everything. He knows what is best for HIS glory. God's goodness is all over everything that He does. Sometimes we might ask, but why did God allow this to happen. The only thing I can say is that He allowed it for His glory. He is good to those who wait upon Him. He knows them who trust in Him. He knows who is resting in His promises. He, alone, knows that plans He has for us. Plans to prosper us and not to harm us! (See Jer. 29:11) He is working things out for us and in us. God is more concerned about our character than He is about our comfort. God has a plan for WHOLENESS in our lives....total well-being....and especially PEACE.....even in the midst of chaos. He has plans to give us a future and a hope! He doesn't want our lives to end like a train wreck!! We should leave this world with a BANG....meaning we left it a better place than when we first came into it. According to Romans 8:28 we know that ALL things work together for the GOOD of those who love the Lord. ALL THINGS....not just some things!!! If you are a Christian....this promise is for YOU!!! God is faithful! Are you wondering how to increase your faith?? One answer....read your Bible!! Faith comes by hearing the Word of God!!!

Thank you Lord that you keep your promises!!! I will not fear for God is with me! I will not doubt. I will not despair because I believe I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!!!

FEAR.....

Have you ever felt like God wanted you to do something....like maybe move, change jobs, or start a ministry....but you didn't do it because you were afraid? FEAR.

FALSE
EVIDENCE
APPEARING
REAL

2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

Amen!!! Jesus didn't die on the cross so we could live a life filled with timidity, fear, and torment. No! He died not only to give us eternal life but also to set us free from the worries of this world. In the world we will have trouble, but HE has overcome the world!! The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy (our joy!) but Jesus came so we could have abundant life. FEAR is a spirit. It makes you weak. It paralyzes you. Indeed, these are uncertain times but we need to remember who is in control here! If God is for us then who can be against us!? Do you have a case of the "what ifs?" Are you making excuses?

"I can't tithe with the economy the way it is....I need to start stockpiling everything." FEAR! You are following Satan's version of faith!! We can't pack up our belongings, hoard our food, and go hide in the country with our generators! Maybe you think....I won't have enough.....God is ALWAYS more than enough. He promises to take care of our needs if we put Him first. Maybe you are thinking....what if I get hurt.....God is in the business of healing hurts. Get out of the boat and reach for Jesus' hand. These are hard times....but I really believe that God is using them to get people out of their comfort zones so they will look up to see Him!

Serving the Lord with Gladness.....

Psalm 100:2 "Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing."

I came to this scripture a few days ago and it really spoke to my circumstances and my attitude. I was feeling discouraged and just not really feeling like I was serving God the way I would like. Ideally, I would like to be involved in Deaf Ministry, but God hasn't opened the doors for that yet. This scripture hit me right upside the head!!! As I prayed about it, I realized that I need to be serving God right where I am at. I need to be a good example to those around me. It doesn't matter what I am doing, as long as I am serving.

It's one thing to serve God when you are doing something that you absolutely love and are passionate about. Serving Him with gladness is easy then! But it is completely different to be serving Him with gladness when you aren't doing something you completely like. In Nehemiah 8:10 we are instructed not to sorrow for the joy of the Lord is our strength. If we don't have joy, then we don't have strength. If we don't have strength, then we don't have a witness.

For the past week I have been focusing on serving God with JOY right where I am at and I can't believe the things that have unfolded!!! I've found a spirit filled church, people randomly stop to talk to me about their problems while I am at Walmart and I have the opportunity to share with them about the power of Jesus and some of the things He has done for me. Amazing! Help me Lord to serve you with gladness no matter where I am or what I am doing. Help me Lord not to just a Christian who is satisfied with just doing the bare minimum. Rather, Lord, help me to be a woman of integrity, passion, and excellence. I want a piece of the P.I.E!!!

Welcome!

Hi! Welcome to my blog. I've started this blog for several reasons. First, I live pretty far from most of my family so I want a means for keeping in touch with them about what is happening. Second, I want to keep friends and family posted about what God is doing in my life. And finally, I've created this site to help myself continue to grow in my relationship with Christ. I plan to post notes here about what I am learning from God's Word. More soon.....
